SQL Server 2008 R2 Express FAILURE  (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?l inkId=125883)
I am NOT able to install SQL Server 2008 R2 Express (both 32 and 64 bit versions with Tools fail). I get an unhandled exception error with an option to Continue. When I click Continue, I get another error that states: Unable to generate a temporary class................... I am using Windows 7 Professional and all service packs are up to date. I need the SQL Server software due to my use of Visual Studio 2010 Professional. This problem all stated because of a Windows Update. It was a service pack update for SQL Server 2008 R2 Express that had been installed since July 2011. When I couldn't install the SQL service pack, an author of Beginning ASP.NET 4 in C# and VB (Imar Spaanjaars) suggested that I uninstalled SQL Server 2008 R2. That took several days. The Add/Remove feature of the Control Panel does not work correctly when trying to remove all instances of SQL Server 2008 R2 Express. I then went through the registry (regedit) and removed all references to SQL. That took more than 24 hours. I hope you can provide a solution for me so that I can be a successful programmer using VS 2010 Professional. Sincerely, Jack Koyle 248-886-1516 Michigan, USA

Hi, Regarding the SQL Server installation issue, please post in SQL Server forum below. http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sqlgetstarted/threads Based on my search, you can delete the User.Config file, located under the path the exception shows you under users\AppData for a test.
